Privacy policy
for PromptLatch.

Last updated: Wednesday, August 5th, 2026.

This policy describes how Zalo Design Studio handles information when you use PromptLatch, a macOS application for storing and reusing text prompts. PromptLatch is local-first. There is no PromptLatch account, and we do not operate a server that stores your prompt library.

Who we are

PromptLatch is published by Zalo Design Studio, a founder-led studio based in the Netherlands. For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Zalo Design Studio is the data controller for the limited processing described below. You can reach us at support@zalodesignstudio.com.

In practice there is very little for a controller to hold here, because PromptLatch keeps your library on your own device and we operate no server that stores it. The processing we do carry out is essentially the email you send us.

Content you create

Prompts, titles, categories and subcategories, favorites, trash state, and related library data are stored on your Mac using on-device storage.

If you enable optional iCloud sync, that library data may sync through Apple iCloud (CloudKit) under your Apple ID, and is processed according to Apple's terms and privacy practices. We do not receive a separate copy of your library on a Zalo Design Studio server.

Dictation and permissions

The Dictate button in the editor starts Apple's built-in macOS Dictation, the same feature you get by pressing the Fn key twice or choosing Edit, then Start Dictation. PromptLatch does not perform speech recognition itself and contains no speech-recognition code.

This matters for your privacy, because it means the handling of your voice is governed by macOS and your own system settings, not by us. Whether recognition happens on your device or on Apple's servers is determined by your macOS Dictation settings, and any permission prompts you see come from macOS. You can review both in System Settings, under Keyboard for Dictation and Privacy and Security for microphone access.

PromptLatch declares a microphone usage description, which is what macOS shows if it asks for access on our behalf. We never receive your audio, and no recording is stored or transmitted by PromptLatch. If you decline, every other feature continues to work.

Clipboard

PromptLatch writes to the clipboard only when you choose to copy a prompt. It does not monitor the clipboard, and it does not read what you copy elsewhere.

Diagnostics and analytics

PromptLatch contains no third-party advertising or analytics SDKs. We do not track your behavior in the app, and we do not sell personal data.

If you contact us by email, we receive what you send us (for example, your email address and your message) so that we can respond.

How we use information

  • To provide PromptLatch features on your device.
  • To sync your library through Apple iCloud when you enable that option.
  • To respond to support or feedback you send us.

Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. Library data shared through optional iCloud is handled by Apple. PromptLatch does not send prompt contents to third-party AI providers.

Data retention

  • On-device library. Kept until you delete items, empty Trash, or remove the app and its data.
  • iCloud, if enabled. Kept according to your Apple ID and iCloud settings, in Apple's systems.
  • Email support and feedback. Kept as long as needed to handle your request and for legitimate business records.

Your choices

  • Leave iCloud sync off for a fully local library.
  • Export or import JSON backups from inside the app.
  • Delete prompts or empty Trash at any time.
  • Revoke microphone access, and change Dictation behaviour, in System Settings.
  • Uninstall PromptLatch to remove the local app.

Your rights

Where we process your personal data, which in practice means correspondence you send us, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in answering you (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), or performance of a contract where your message concerns a purchase you have made (Article 6(1)(b)).

Under the GDPR you have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent where processing rests on it. To exercise any of these, email support@zalodesignstudio.com.

Your prompt library itself is not something we can act on, because we never hold it. It is on your Mac, and in your own iCloud account if you enabled sync. You can export, edit, or delete it at any time from inside the app.

If you believe we have handled your data improperly, you have the right to complain to your local supervisory authority. In the Netherlands that is the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens.

Children

PromptLatch is a general productivity utility and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16, the age of consent for information society services under the GDPR in the Netherlands.

International users

PromptLatch is a Mac app that runs on your device. Optional iCloud sync may store data in Apple's infrastructure according to your Apple ID region and Apple's practices.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The "last updated" date at the top changes when we do. Continued use of PromptLatch after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy where permitted by law.

This policy covers the PromptLatch app. The zalodesignstudio.com website is covered separately by our site privacy policy and cookie policy.
